iSkoot Appoints New Engineering Lead

Wayne Fenton Named Vice President, Global Product Development and Engineering at Leading Mobile Developer

SAN FRANCISCO, June 25 — iSkoot, a software pioneer known for groundbreaking mobile Internet solutions, today announced that Wayne Fenton has joined the company’s executive team and will lead iSkoot’s research and development efforts, including engineering and product delivery, as Vice President of Global Product Development and Engineering. He brings to iSkoot more than 20 years of experience in developing applications and infrastructure at some of the most prestigious technology companies in Silicon Valley.

Most recently, Wayne served as a distinguished enterprise architect at eBay, where he helped develop and implement core components of their service oriented architecture and identity management infrastructure. Prior to joining eBay, Wayne was a solution architect at Cisco Systems, where he designed very large scale VoIP systems for Fortune 500 companies. He joined Cisco through an acquisition of the voice/web conferencing company, Latitude Communications, where he was the Director of Software.

Wayne also served as a senior developer for Oracle Corporation, where he led GUI development for a number of query tools. Wayne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Economics from UC Berkeley and a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Illinois.

“iSkoot has taken a fresh approach to mobilizing the Internet and I look forward to the opportunity of helping further develop and deliver their unique technology to mobile carriers around the world,” said Fenton. “The concept of aggregating Internet services using a back-end data framework and delivering to a mobile client is very compelling. iSkoot’s Kalaida platform is the first to integrate all the Web services mobile customers care about, bringing the mobile experience closer to what customers expect: real time, single sign-in connection.”

“We’re here to make every phone smarter, and Wayne understands both the technical and the human elements of large-scale, industrial-strength infrastructure we’ll need to make that happen,” said Mark Jacobstein, iSkoot CEO. “His domain expertise in internet service integration and voice delivery makes him a perfect fit for iSkoot, and his experience will prove invaluable as we continue to expand the capabilities of mass-market mobile handsets.”

iSkoot achieved early success with the downloadable iSkoot for Skype™ mobile client and its software developed for the 3 Skypephone. More recently, the company invested in its Kalaida platform and now offers Notifier, a real-time mobile aggregation product for feature phones. Notifier is the first application to run on iSkoot’s Kalaida platform, and offers a real-time, concurrent connection to top Internet services including Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, AIM and leading news services. iSkoot recently announced a $19 million Series C funding investment led by Vision Opportunity Master Fund and included participation from existing investors Charles River Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Jesselson Capital Corporation and ZG Ventures.
